Specialty coffee brand Bombay Island has expanded its presence in Mumbai with a new 60-seater café in Andheri, which opened on September 9, 2026. The outlet brings together the brand’s specialty coffee programme, an all-vegetarian food menu, bakery offerings and a sensory-led experience centred around coffee and fragrance.

Inspired by the seven islands that historically formed Bombay, each Bombay Island café has been conceived around a different interpretation of the islands. The Andheri outlet, called “Island 2.0: Transformation,” draws from the coffee-roasting process, where green coffee beans are transformed through heat, time and technique. The theme is reflected in the café’s industrial aesthetic and rusted-metal finishes.

Bombay Island was founded by Rupal Jain, whose interest in coffee developed while she was studying to become a Chartered Accountant in Mumbai. Jain trained with the Coffee Board of India and later travelled to Singapore to study coffee roasting, sourcing and specialty coffee. The business was established as a roastery in Malad in 2018, supplying freshly roasted coffee to cafés and restaurants across India, before opening its first café at The Trees in Vikhroli in 2021.

The café’s entirely vegetarian all-day menu spans sandwiches, sourdough toasts, bowls, salads, pasta and shareable plates. Highlights include the Caprese Burrata Sandwich, Mediterranean Sandwich, Hazelnut Butter Banana Sourdough, Beet Hummus & Feta Toast, Truffle Mushroom Tagliatelle, Sundried Tomato Hummus & Falafel Bowl and Pomodoro Spaghetti. The bakery selection includes the Honey Glazed Croissant, Cinnamon Walnut Jaggery Cookie, Dark Chocolate Cookie, gluten-free Orange Almond Tea Cake, vegan and gluten-free Banana Walnut Bread, tiramisu, cheesecakes and brownies.

Coffee remains central to the Andheri outlet, with signatures including the Maple Coconut Latte, Maple Cinnamon Latte, Black Sesame Latte, Mont Blanc and Tiramisu Cold Brew. Espresso, Americano, V60 Pour Over, Cappuccino, Flat White and Cortado feature alongside cold options such as Iced Mocha, Hazelnut Cold Coffee, Vietnamese Cold Brew and Cold Brew Classic. The beverage programme also includes matcha, kombucha, hot and cold chocolates and the signature Souq cold brew tea. The outlet will additionally offer a Coffee Omakase Experience, providing guests with a guided tasting of selected specialty coffees from India.

Rupal Jain, Founder of Bombay Island, said the brand had been built around making quality coffee approachable and part of everyday life. She noted that each café was intended to provide a welcoming environment where coffee remained at the centre of the experience while the brand continued to build on its roasting expertise.

At the centre of the café is the Island Brew Bar, where guests can watch baristas prepare coffee and engage with the brewing process. Community-style and separate seating areas have been incorporated for co-working, casual meetings and longer café visits. The outlet also brings together specialty coffee by Bombay Island and fine fragrance by Kimirica, combining coffee, fragrance and storytelling through a sensory-led format.

With the Andheri opening, Bombay Island is building on its evolution from a Malad roastery into a wider café concept, bringing together specialty coffee, vegetarian food, design and hospitality under one roof.
