Kura, a new 3,000 sq. ft. specialty coffee and all-day dining destination, has been introduced in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. Founded by first-time entrepreneurs Kiran Vijayakumar and Prajwal Venugopal, the café brings together an innovative coffee programme, an in-house bakery and pâtisserie, and a kitchen inspired by French culinary techniques and Japanese craftsmanship.
Named after the Japanese word kura, meaning a storehouse for treasured possessions, the café has been conceptualised as a space where exceptional coffee, thoughtfully prepared food and contemporary hospitality are brought together. More than a year of research and exploration across coffee, cuisine and hospitality has been invested by its founders in developing the concept.
At the heart of Kura is a specialty coffee programme showcasing distinctive Indian coffees from the Northeast, Himalayan foothills, Koraput, Araku and the Western Ghats, alongside selections from international roasters. The beverage menu extends beyond traditional espresso and manual brewing to include milk-clarified coffee creations, house-made spirit-inspired syrups, Frost blended cold brew and curated three-beverage coffee journeys. Competition-grade brewing equipment and expertise from World Barista Championship judges and internationally recognised coffee educators have been incorporated into the programme.
The culinary offering combines classical French foundations with Japanese precision and restraint. Freshly laminated viennoiserie, house-made pastries and hand-rolled pasta are prepared in-house, while the all-day menu features Eggs Benedict, seafood, New Zealand lamb rack and contemporary desserts. Global ingredients and flavours are incorporated selectively, with an emphasis placed on technique, balance and quality.
With its integrated approach to coffee, baking and dining, Kura has been positioned as a contemporary neighbourhood destination for Bengaluru's evolving café culture, offering an experience built around craftsmanship, comfort and conversation.
