Kura, a 3,000 sq. ft. specialty coffee destination in Indiranagar, brings together specialty coffee, an in-house bakery and pâtisserie, and a French-Japanese kitchen. Founded by first-time entrepreneurs Kiran Vijayakumar and Prajwal Venugopal, the café has been developed after more than a year of immersion in coffee, food and hospitality. Its name comes from the Japanese word kura, meaning a storehouse used to safeguard valuable possessions, reflecting its approach to carefully selected coffee.
Kura’s coffee programme showcases Indian coffees from the Northeast, Himalayan foothills, Koraput, Araku and the Western Ghats, alongside selections from international roasters. The manual brew bar uses competition-grade equipment and has been curated with World Barista Championship judges and internationally recognised coffee educators. Beyond espresso and manual brews, the programme features milk clarification, house-made spirit-inspired syrups, Frost, a refined blended cold brew, and signature three-beverage coffee journeys.
The culinary programme combines French technique with Japanese precision, incorporating hollandaise, velouté, choux pastry and fresh pasta made in-house. Laminated viennoiserie is prepared fresh each morning, while the all-day menu includes Eggs Benedict, house pastries, hand-rolled pastas, New Zealand lamb rack, seafood and desserts. Flavours such as za’atar, harissa, peri-peri and matcha are used selectively, with technique and ingredient quality kept at the centre of the menu.
The café’s all-day format is designed to bring its coffee, bakery and culinary offerings together across different occasions. From a three-egg omelette to signature main courses and refined desserts, each preparation is approached with the same emphasis on detail and quality, creating a contemporary café experience shaped by coffee craftsmanship and French-Japanese culinary influences.
